Handscraped in the dining room

Since we want to redecorate and paint every room we had to decide where to start.
We had decided that the first room we would “decorate” is the dining room since we already bought the hardwood when we found it at such a great price. Originally the previous owners had carpet in there. Although, it is soft on the feet, Carpet in a dining room is a no no in my mind!
We bought this beautiful handscraped engineered hardwood at Lumber Liquidators in Grimsby and it has completely transformed the room. Definitely worth checking out for your next flooring project.

Hubby was working hard for the last 2 weeks (he had to go away for work quite a bit in between). An now it's finally done!

Along with adding hardwood, we are changing the baseboards to a wider board and adding a chair rail and picture frame mouldings. The base will be painted white and the top will be a light green with a hint of grey. We really love the greenish drapes we had in the townhouse living room, so we are reusing them for the dining room and using them as a jumping off point for the color scheme.

P.S I can't stand the yellow paint color and I am so thankful it's almost gone! However, the kitchen, family room and a bedroom upstairs are all painted in yellow as well...
Here’s where we’re at now:
Hubby finished installing the floors.
I painted the baseboards using semi-gloss white paint
The top part of the walls are painted using CIL DUO eggshell paint.

** Just a little note about CIL DUO- I am really loving this paint! It's so easy to work with; goes on smoothly, with little smell. It's a low VOC and low odor paint and primer in one. Home Depot is where I found it and I would definitely recommend you try it out on your next paint project.

Here's a little collage of what's been going on in the dining room

It's still not 100% complete, but we're nearing completion!
I am going to try to put the trim on tonight and get a coat of white on the bottom.

Stay tuned for more updates on the dining room
